What Martin Odegaard did to Thomas Partey after strange Arsenal decision in Southampton draw

Arsenal dropped points for the third consecutive game on Friday night as they fell to a 3-3 draw at home to Southampton. Late goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka rescued a point for Mikel Arteta's side after falling 3-1 behind.

Plenty has been said on the Gunners' defensive woes after conceding seven goals in their last three games. William Saliba's absence has been a major blow, with no clean sheets being secured since he sustained a back injury.

However, the fight and spirit of the Arsenal squad can certainly not be questioned after they netted two late goals to rescue a valuable point.

After Saka levelled the scoring in the 90th minute, the Gunners were handed eight minutes of additional time to snatch a winner. Leandro Trossard clipped the crossbar with a long-range strike in their best chance.

During the dying minutes, the ball fell to Thomas Partey with plenty of passing options. However, the midfield decided to try his luck with a tame effort that flew well over.

Odegaard, who seemed to be Arsenal's most dangerous player, did not shy away from hiding his frustration at his teammate. The Norwegian threw his hands down by his side and turned his back on the Ghana international.

Gary Neville seconded Odegaard's feeling on Sky Sports. "The crowd are shouting, they can’t believe he’s taken that option. An experienced player like that. It’s absolutely crazy and Mikel Arteta will be furious with him, he just has to play a pass to Odegaard who is 10 yards away."
