What Manchester United players did during their days off ahead of Man City fixture

A selection of Manchester United's players have enjoyed some downtime ahead of preparing for this weekend's derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

United, who currently occupy the final Champions League berth, will be hoping to get back to winning ways after being held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. The Reds created a plethora of opportunities but were unable to find a way past a stubborn Hornets defence and an inspired Ben Foster in between the posts.

Considering United struggled to find a way past the Hornets, confidence ahead of the trip to City, certainly amongst the fans, is unlikely to be very high. Their cross-city rivals currently sit at the top of the table and are looking to fend off competition from Liverpool in a bid to retain their Premier League crown.

Although interim manager Ralf Rangnick will no doubt be forcing his United players to sharpen up on their shooting ahead of the trip to the Etihad on Sunday as a matter of urgency, the players have been granted some days off ahead of the derby. Pictures have circulated on social media, as well as reports from elsewhere, about where members of the squad have travelled to in recent days.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who experienced a difficult afternoon against Watford, jetted out to Madrid on Sunday, alongside girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. The Portuguese international is no stranger to the Spanish capital, of course, as he spent nine years at Real Madrid, winning a plethora of trophies and individual honours.

According to a report by Diario AS, Ronaldo and those he was with dined at Filandon, which is located El Pardo. The restaurant is renowned for its fish and it is claimed reservations require months of advance notice to be sure of a place.

Fellow Portuguese star Diogo Dalot also travelled to the European continent, visiting Paris with his partner. It is understood that they visited Disneyland during their stay in the French capital.

Whilst the Portuguese duo temporarily left English soil, Victor Lindelof, Alex Telles and Fred all enjoyed mini-breaks on home turf. Lindelof visited the Lake District with his wife, Maria, as per her Instagram page, and Telles and Fred went to London.

The Brazilian duo, along with their partners, visited the capital and took in some of the sights that London has to offer.
