What makes a player worthy of being inducted into the Hall of Fame? With another class of athletes, coaches and journalists freshly inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, the question of who deserves to get in next always comes up. Conversely, so does the question of who does not.
It is of course important to remember the hoops hall is not the Boston Celtics or NBA Hall of Fame. It encompasses the entire sport worldwide. That makes players who shined in Europe, the Olympics or at the NCAA level (or some combination of them) is more likely to punch their ticket to basketball Valhalla.
To hear a detailed discussion by a pair of former NBA players and a college basketball standout, check out an episode of the “Road Trippin'” podcast that has hosts Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Allie Clifton dive deep into how Hall of Fame cases are built.
