What Liverpool fans said about Premier League title race after Man City draw

Liverpool supporters have wasted no time reacting to Manchester City's dropped points at West Ham United on Sunday after, as the Premier League title race goes down to the wire.

Pep Guardiola's side showed their undoubted quality to come back from 2-0 down at half-time and get the match tied at 2-2, but things could have been much worse for Liverpool's hopes had Riyad Mahrez not missed a crucial late penalty for City.

It means that Jurgen Klopp's side can get themselves within a point of the title pace-setters with a win at Southampton on Tuesday evening, setting up a grandstand finish on the final day. Here's what Reds have been saying on social media.

Keifer MacDonald Tweeted: "Obviously that’s a hard result to stomach given the circumstances, but it keeps their champagne on hold for a little bit longer, keeps them grafting, keeps them mentally occupied, and most importantly sees #LFC remain in the hunt. Far from over."

@Raj_P33 wrote on Twitter: "At least we don’t have to think about goal difference now. We either lose by one point or win it by a point #LFC " LFC blogger Si Steers wrote: "Anyone else thinking Jurgen is messaging Stevie right now?"

With hopes of landing a 19th league title still alive, Lee Edmonds has taken stock of the bigger picture. He Tweeted: "On Tuesday we could potentially take the quadruple chase to the very last day of the season and that already is a miracle, but if we manage to do this I don't think anyone can deny just how big an achievement overturning that gap truly was."

Navin Babu added: "Man City just opened the door a bit to give Liverpool some hope in the title race but it still is in their hands - as long as they win on the final day. All we can do is to just win our games and stay close enough to strike if City somehow drop points against Villa."

Whilst Liverpool play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the season, City have a home game against Aston Villa and former Anfield great Steven Gerrard will have a say in the destiny of the title.

@darryl1truered summed the situation up by Tweeting: "The result could have been better but come on Reds a win against Southampton and we take it into the last game of the season, hoping Stevie G can take points off them!"
