The runway is not a wardrobe
You watch the models walk. The silhouettes are architectural, the fabrics are things you'd need to Google, and the styling involves a kind of studied dishevelment that takes a team of people to achieve. Lakme Fashion Week is, in this sense, a performance. A very good one. But you already know you are not going to wear that structured cape to a parent-teacher meeting in Pune, or those deconstructed kurta-trousers to a family lunch in Chennai. The runway was never meant to be your wardrobe. What it is meant to be is a signal, and reading the signal is a different skill from admiring the clothes.
