What Kylian Mbappe did after Harry Kane's penalty miss for England vs France in World Cup clash

England captain Harry Kane was unable to equalise for the Three Lions a second time as he blazed his penalty kick over the France goal. Mason Mount was pushed in the back by Theo Hernandez but Kane was unable to convert his spot kick.

Aurelien Tchouameni opened the scoring for Les Bleus in the 17th minute of the match before the Tottenham striker equalised with a second half penalty. Olivier Giroud put France back ahead in the match with a powerful header before Kane missed his second penalty of the match.

Fans have been left bemused by the referee and VAR decisions that have not been given in the match, with Bukayo Saka being 'kicked off the park'. France's main attacking threat Kylian Mbappe has been kept relatively quiet throughout the match, but his reaction to Kane's miss has sparked anger on social media.

After Kane missed his penalty in the 84th minute, Mbappe was seen celebrating as his nation had been let off the hook. There was plenty of talk about how England would deal with the Paris Saint-Germain superstar's threat throughout the match.

Mbappe was unable to add to his World Cup goal tally against the Three Lions but he was delighted that his nation avoided a major setback on their way to the semi-finals. England's World Cup campaign in Qatar has come to an end in devastating fashion.

Gareth Southgate was unable to lead his side to another World Cup semi-final appearance after the Three Lions reached the final of Euro 2020. England players will now return to their clubs ahead of the return to Premier League action on Boxing Day later this month.
