What kit will Rangers wear in Europa League final

It has been confirmed what kit Rangers will wear for the Europa League final after their momentous semi-final win over RB Leipzig at Ibrox last week.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side will indeed wear their famous blue kit, after fearing they would be forced to wear their white strip after being officially named as the 'away' team.

Opponents Eintract Frankfurt reached the final after defeating West Ham, courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate win. The German side were named the ‘home’ team, but will be forced to wear their third kit - an all-white strip, in what could be seen as a small win for Rangers.

The official UEFA photoshoot hinted that Gers would get to wear blue as it appeared next to the trophy and that has proved to be the case, albeit Frankfurt’s black shirt was worn for their pictures.

Rangers will wear blue socks instead of their traditional black - the same as their kit for the 2008 UEFA Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg, with the German side wearing their third kit as it is stated blue would clash with their black away kit.

It will also be the same kit that Rangers wore when they last won a European trophy 50 years ago in Barcelona - as they return to Spain for the final, which will be held in Seville.

Following the arrival of the UEFA Europa League trophy to Seville ahead of the final, the local authorities have responded to the possibility of 100,000 Rangers fans descending on the city - alongside potentially equal amounts of Frankfurt fans.

It comes after some disturbances which took place between Frankfurt fans and West Ham fans in the city back in March when the sides faced off against Betis and Sevilla in the Europa League.

A fan zone - without screens - is set to open for both Rangers and Frankfurt fans in the majestic Plaza de España, the most famous square in Seville, located around a 30 minute walk away from the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
