'What kind of a shot was that!' - When Sunil Gavaskar fumed at Shubman Gill's shot-selection

Shubman's Gill's rash shot that led to his departure on day two of India's first Test against England in Hyderabad annoyed batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who questioned the young Indian batter's shot-selection.

Gill took a fresh guard to begin the second day on his overnight score of 14 but was dismissed by debutant spinner Tom Hartley, caught at mid-wicket on 23 having played 66 deliveries in his laborious knock, which included just two boundaries.

The manner of Gill's dismissal after having done all the hard work annoyed Gavaskar, who was doing commentary at that point.

"What kind of a shot was he looking to play! One can understand if he was looking to play it in the air, but it was just a badly executed on-drive. He did all the hard work and then played a shot like that," Gavaskar was heard as saying on commentary.

KL Rahul's 86 and Ravindra Jadeja gave India a healthy lead by the end of day two.

Jadeja then took his score to 87 on day three before being dismissed, as India were bowled out for 436, giving the home team a lead of 190 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Srikar Bharat (41) and Axar Patel (44) also made useful contributions.

On the opening day of the match, England stuck to their aggressive 'Bazball' approach after opting to bat first, but could only score 246.
