What Jurrien Timber has already said on his transfer future including big hint at Arsenal move

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has already opened the door to a summer transfer as rumours of Arsenal’s interest emerges.

The Gunners are said to have bid £30million for the Dutch international, who is rated at £50m by his club with two years left on his contract.

Timber may already be a name familiar to Premier League fans, particularly those of Manchester United after their unsuccessful bid to sign him last summer.

As a result of that failed transfer saga, Timber revealed earlier this year that he is likely to move on from Ajax at the end of the 2022-23 season.

He told De Telegraaf in April: “A transfer is getting closer and closer, so to speak. There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax.

“Last year, Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract. As a club boy I did that with love and after the season we will review the situation.”

Only last week, the 22-year-old refused to commit his long-term future to the Amsterdam club.

In a conversation with Vandaag Inside, Timber said of his future: “Will I stay with Ajax? I’m not sure, I can’t stay that.

“I’m not in talks with Ajax now. My agent had a good talk a few times, but it’s not like we’re talking about anything right now.”

Reports suggest personal terms are already in place between Timber and Arsenal with there optimism a transfer fee will also be agreed soon.

The Gunners are also chasing deals for Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Romeo Lavia as the early weeks of the window continue to unfold, with talk of a new £60m bid for Chelsea striker Havertz on Tuesday.
