What is World Cup 2022 opening ceremony time and who is performing?

We have finally reached the first day of the World Cup in Qatar, with the competition's opening ceremony coming up ahead of the game between the hosts and Ecuador in Group A.

Both excitement and anticipation are beginning to set in, as teams from around the globe begin their descent into the Middle East.

The opening day will mark a celebration of the first tournament to take place in the region, with domestic leagues around the world pausing for the winter games. But with many boycotting against the host nation, just who will perform and when will the World Cup opening ceremony take place?

When is the World Cup 2022 opening ceremony?

The opening ceremony is set to take place today, Sunday, November 20.

What time is the opening ceremony?

The opening ceremony will begin at 3pm UK time.

Where is it taking place?

The stadium set to host is Al Khor’s Al Bayt Stadium, which seats around 60,000 people.

Who is set to perform?

BTS singer and K-Pop star Jung Kook has been confirmed as performing at the opening ceremony. Releasing his name single 'Left and Right' with Charlie Puth, other stars including Dua Lipa have rubbished claims they are set to feature in Qatar.

Singer of the famous 2010 World Cup song 'Waka Waka', Shakira has also been rumoured to be performing, although again, no confirmation has been made.
