Donald Trump has backed his under-fire friend Elon Musk by promising to buy a pricey new red Model S car, with personalised licence plates that read "TRUTH" – and has also promised to buy one of each model.
However, he has previously admitted that he hasn’t driven a car for years and will not be driving the Tesla. It is not even known if he has a valid driving licence. Security protocol also means that, as US president, the 78-year-old is not allowed to drive on public roads.
