What is the new Radio 1 schedule going to be? Adele Roberts to leave after eight years

After originally shooting to fame on Big Brother back in 2002, Adele Roberts first joined BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2012.

She then moved to Radio 1 in 2015 and has presented the station’s Early Breakfast show ever since.

It’s now been announced that she will leave the show, just under a year after fellow long-term presenters Scott Mills and Chris Stark also left Radio 1.

With these changes, a new schedule will be coming to the station, with fresh presenters to plug the games from veteran names.

Here’s a look at what we can expect for the future of Radio 1.

What is the new Radio 1 schedule going to be?

Another key change to take note of is that, from September 9, Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston will team up as co-hosts of the new Weekend Breakfast show. The show will also move from London to Cardiff.

Upcoming presenter Jess Iszatt will also be joining the team at Radio 1, as the new host of BBC Introducing on Sundays, taking over from Gemma Bradley, who is stepping down from the station altogether.

Ms Iszaat’s show will run from 8pm to 10pm every Sunday, showcasing the best in up-and-coming British talent.

Roberts celebrated the new schedule as Radio 1 and announced it on Twitter, writing: “I love you @BBCR1. I am your fan forever! Thank you for everything @ahj.

“You have been there for me from the start. You are so special and I am forever grateful. I’m so excited for the new schedule and I can’t wait to listen.”

While Roberts is stepping down, Radio 1 has promised that “you'll continue to hear her voice across the radio as she continues to be part of the BBC family”.

Other shows on Radio 1 will stay largely the same, with the main changes taking place over the weekend hours.
