Photo of a person running and another person cycling.

January has a way of resetting the clock. Gyms fill up, training plans get downloaded, and millions of people commit to getting healthier and/or fitter. For many, that means lacing up for a Couch to 5K running endeavour. But running isn’t the only way to build endurance, or even the best way for everyone. If pounding the pavement isn’t your idea of a fresh start, cycling offers a lower-impact, highly motivating alternative.

Just as the bicycle can be used as an alternative to walking 10,000 steps a day, it can also be used to prepare for your first fitness challenge.
