Snapchat has rolled a new AI powered chatbot to it’s users. Known as My AI, the artificial intelligence tool that was once only available to users who paid for the service is now available for free and uses ChatGPT technology.
The Snapchat’s AI is the latest one as tech based companies look to capitalise on the artificial intelligence boom following the massive success of ChatGPT. According to Snapchat, My AI sends nearly two million messages a day and collects information about movies, sports, animals and the wider world.
The list of features include the ability to personalise the bot by turning it into a Bitmoji and giving it a name. Users can also add My AI into it’s conversations with their friends by summoning it into their group chats.
The AI tool can also give recommendations for places to visit and activities to do depending on your location and users can also send pictures to the AI tool and receive a reply. During a demonstration of the tool, Snapchat showed this by sending the bot a picture of a tomato plant to which it replied with a tomato soup recipe.

The AI's launch has been a polarising one with users taking to social media to voice their amazement and concerns. Many have shared screenshots of their conversation with the bot about things such as Messi, Ronaldo and Beyoncé.
Not everybody is impressed with the new tool however, many users have commented on their annoyance of the tool being placed on the app without their permission and no option to remove it unless you are subscribed to Snapchat+.
