‘What in the Final Destination’: Woman pulls something out of her LongHorn Steakhouse drink after a few sips, and it wasn’t ice

A woman who visited LongHorn Steakhouse recently posted a TikTok video that has gone viral and sparked a serious conversation about restaurant safety. The video has left many viewers shocked and concerned about what can end up in your drink at a restaurant.

Yessica (@spanishdime), a TikTok creator, shared a video of a disturbing experience that has gained over 5.2 million views on the platform. She ordered a pink lemonade at LongHorn Steakhouse, took a few sips, and then noticed something was wrong with her drink. She reached in and pulled out what appears to be a large piece of broken glass from her cup, according to Brobible.

Her reaction in the video says it all. “It’s not ice,” she says, tapping the object against the wooden table. Many commenters urged her to take legal action, and some joked, “OH YOURE RICH NOW.” It is worth noting that if something breaks near or inside an ice bin at a restaurant, the entire bin is supposed to be emptied and replaced immediately as a standard safety measure.

Finding glass in your drink at a restaurant is a serious safety issue that needs to be handled the right way

According to the National Capital Poison Center, the first thing to do if you suspect you have swallowed glass is to seek emergency medical help right away, especially if it was a larger piece. The organization notes that smaller pieces are less likely to cause serious harm and may pass through the body without injury.

However, larger pieces with sharp edges can cause significant damage to the throat or digestive tract, which is why getting checked by a medical professional as soon as possible is strongly advised. This incident is not the first of its kind, as a tourist recently filmed glass cracking at the Las Vegas Strat in a similarly alarming moment.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, experts say that without a clear injury, a lawsuit would be unlikely to succeed. However, the presence of glass in your drink would probably be enough to get a free meal or some form of compensation from the restaurant. If there is a provable injury, it may be worth looking into a personal injury or defective product claim.

Either way, it is important not to simply walk away from the situation without documenting everything, including taking photos or videos of the drink and the foreign object found inside it. It is also important to report the incident to local health authorities or Poison Control. Doing so can trigger a formal investigation and potentially stop others in the community from being harmed in the same way.

Restaurants are expected to follow strict food safety standards, and incidents like this one suggest that those standards are not always being met. Scary real-life moments like these have been drawing Final Destination comparisons online, much like a terrifying car crash close call caught on video that went viral recently.

By sharing her experience publicly, Yessica has already warned millions of people about the importance of checking their drinks before consuming them. Her video has also reignited a broader conversation about hygiene and safety standards in the restaurant industry, and whether enough is being done to protect customers from preventable incidents like this one.
