What happens next as Liz Truss resigns as Prime Minister

Liz Truss has resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after just over six weeks in post.

In a truly remarkable turn of events, the under-fire Prime Minister stepped out in Downing Street to announce that she had told King Charles that she will be resigning.

The pressure had been mounting on Ms Truss after a series of disasters following on from the announcement of her economic plans.
