What happened when Richarlison met Cristian Romero for the first time as a Tottenham player

Much has been made of Richarlison and Cristian Romero's very first meeting at Hotspur Way following the Brazilian's big-money move to the club. Coming up against each other in the Premier League last season for the very first time, the pair had a couple of lively battles in Tottenham's league games against Everton.

Having clashed with Romero in the first half of the game at Goodison Park in November, the players then went head-to-head after the break when the Brazilian claimed a penalty and the Spurs man came across to deliver his verdict on the appeal. Next facing each other at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the start of March, Romero left his mark on his opponent early doors with a late tackle that left Richarlison in a heap on the pitch just in front of the south stand.

Given the battles between the pair, fans, and probably Spurs players for that matter, have been left wondering what exactly would happen when they spot each other at the training ground for the first time after Richarlison's move to the club. Well, we now have the answer after Tottenham published a video of the pair meeting each other in the canteen at Hotspur Way.

With Richarlison sitting on a table with fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura, he then gets up to shake Giovani Lo Celso's hand after the midfielder comes over to introduce himself. The Argentina international is closely followed by Romero, who has a big smile on his face, and he goes on to share an embrace with the 25-year-old.

A huge cheer can then be heard inside the canteen, with Lucas Moura laughing and clapping his hands, with Eric Dier sat on the table behind doing likewise. Both Richarlison and Romero found it very funny as they had a quick laugh before taking their seats.

Speaking of Tottenham's offer to sign him from Everton, Spurs' new No.9 said: "I'm very happy for this moment. I remember when I was in Brazil and the offer from Tottenham came I couldn't believe it. And after I signed the contract, even more so because it feels like a dream.

"When I arrived here it gave me chills in my stomach to see my new teammates and a new home. I hope to make history here in this shirt. And now it's about working with the great coach I have, with my great teammates too and make history in that shirt."
