Spoilers for the Outer Banks series finale ending ahead. After five seasons of kidnappings, shootouts, motorbike crashes, plane crashes, and tropical storms, Outer Banks has come to an end. The highly anticipated fifth and final season arrived on August 20, concluding the action thriller two years after a devastating death rocked Poguelandia. Despite several lingering plot threads (including a pregnancy), OBX fans only had one question heading into the series finale: Would JJ (Rudy Pankow) return?
Back in 2024, season 4 of Netflix's must-watch teen soap followed the teen treasure hunters as they set out to find Blackbeard's long-lost Blue Crown, putting them up against the season's big bad (and JJ's biological father), Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane). In the feature-length finale, the show's core friend group faced the devastating loss of one of their own, setting up their revenge era for the show's final installment. Of course, in a show where several characters have come back from their alleged deaths, fans wondered whether Outer Banks could end by somehow reuniting the Pogues.
