A major road near Nottinghamshire was covered in biscuits as a lorry shed its load. Ilkeston Road in Sandiacre, Derbyshire, became partially blocked in both directions due to the accident at around 5pm on Monday, April 4.
The load of McVities food items, which included ginger nuts and bourbons, were crushed on the road between Stanton Gate and Starch Lane. Erewash Police, who responded to the incident, joked on Twitter: "Please bear with us this evening whilst we try and ‘digest’ this issue."
"A lorry load of McVities finest have decided to abandon ship causing a slight obstruction!" In a follow-up tweet at 8pm the force showed three recovery vehicles from Crouch Recovery parked up at the scene.

"Big boys with big toys from Crouch Recovery have turned up now. These experts will have it sorted in no time," they added.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "Ilkeston Road in both directions partially blocked due to shed load of biscuits between Stanton Gate and Starch Lane. Traffic is coping well. The road was closed at around 17:00 due to an incident involving a lorry but sensors now indicate that traffic can pass through.
