What Gabriel Jesus did at the Emirates Stadium ahead of Arsenal clash against Manchester City

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has been absent for the last two months after suffering a knee injury whilst away with Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar. The Brazilian striker signed from Manchester City last summer after completing a £45million deal to reunite with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta offered a fresh update on Jesus' recovery from the knee injury that has seen him miss a number of games for the Gunners after a strong start to life in north London. Eddie Nketiah has filled the void left by the 25-year-old who has recently started work out on the grass once again in individual training sessions.

Erling Haaland's arrival at the Etihad Stadium contributed to Jesus' decision to want to try a new challenge and leave Pep Guardiola's side. The Norwegian striker has scored 25 goals in 21 appearances in the Premier League this season but the Gunners will hope he has an off night tonight as the two teams go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium.

Ahead of kick-off, Jesus was spotted lurking around the pitch tunnel as his former side and current team warmed up ahead of their huge title clash. The Brazilian spent five years with City, winning four Premier League titles, three league cups and an FA Cup in that time.

Leandro Trossard was signed in the January transfer window to help bolster Arteta's attacking options as Jesus continued his recovery. The Brazilian has not been able to set a return date but could return to first team training by the end of the month as he steps up his rehabilitation.

The 25-year-old's return would be a major boost to Arsenal's Premier League title challenge given Gabriel Martinelli's lack of form in front of goal in recent weeks.
