Many could struggle this winter as energy bills soar, but there may be some support on the way. Ofgem’s household energy price cap is set to rise from £1,971 to £3,549 per year for the average household from October.
This will put pressure families who are already struggling to deal with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis as well as inflation which has hit a 40-year-high of 10.1 percent.
The Government is expected to announce a major new energy support package later this week, after Prime Minister Liz Truss gets her feet under the desk at Number 10 Downing Street. Details on the plans are still limited, but reports seem to suggest that it could involve freezing household energy bills and providing extra support to companies.
