As the news of wrestler Vinesh Phogat's disqualification ahead of her gold-medal match at the Paris Olympics develops, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is with the Indian contingent, described in detail the drastic steps that were taken to bring her weight down to under 50kg, but it all went in vain as she remained 100gm over her weight category.

As a result of her disqualification, Vinesh will finish last in the final standings of the women's 50kg freestyle event in Paris. Cuba's Yusneylis Lopez, who Vinesh defeated in the semifinal, will take the Indian's place in the gold-medal match against USA's Sarah HildeBrandt.
