TransPennine Express services will be nationalised after customers suffered continous disruptions, poor service, and cancelled trains.
The Northern rail’s network will be taken over by a state-run operator when its contract expires on May 28. The main goal of this move is to improve the service’s overall performance, given that one in six TransPennine trains were cancelled in March, according to data from the rail regulator.
