Shopping for a used car can feel like a game of guesswork. You don't know exactly how the previous owner treated it, whether maintenance was done on schedule, or what might be waiting to go wrong after you drive it home.
That's where certified pre-owned, or CPO, cars come in. A CPO vehicle is still a used car, but it has been inspected and approved under a manufacturer's or dealership's certification program. These vehicles typically have to meet specific age, mileage, condition, and inspection requirements before they can be sold as certified.
