Declan Rice has been 'spotted' dropping a hint that Joe Gomez could be heading for a recall to Gareth Southgate's England squad ahead of next month's World Cup by telling the defender he will 'see him soon'.
Gomez was handed his second consecutive Premier League start during Wednesday's slender victory over West Ham, which followed the Reds' triumph over Manchester City three days earlier.
The former Charlton scholar gave away a penalty for a late challenge on Jarrod Bowen in first-half stoppage time. However, the heroics of Alisson Becker would spare Gomez's blushes as guessed correctly to save the forward's spot-kick and ensure the Reds' early lead remained intact heading into the interval.

But after the full-time whistle, as Liverpool and West Ham players congregated in the bowels of the Anfield tunnel, Rice and Gomez were seen on the latest Inside Anfield video engaged in a discussion which was finished by Rice saying: "Joe! See you soon, yeah?"
While the context of the conversation has obviously not been divulged, the fact the World Cup begins in less than a month makes the possibility of the duo's discussion centring around the finals in Qatar a very genuine possibility.
Injuries to Kyle Walker and Reece James - combined with the form of Harry Maguire and Tyrone Mings - have rapidly increased the Liverpool defender's prospects of being included in the Three Lions' 26-man squad for the finals next month.
Walker is currently recovering from surgery on a long-standing groin issue, while the Chelsea full-back was substituted during the Londoners' victory over AC Milan earlier this month with a suspect ligament problem.
Gomez has not played for the Three Lions since 2020, but according to the Telegraph's Matt Lawton, Southgate would not need much persuading to welcome the defender back into the fold due to being a big fan of his "talent and temperament".
Southgate is set to name his squad for the finals on November 10.
