Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo told him that his move to Bayern Munich was a "great step".
The Senegal attacker called time on his spell at Anfield in the summer as he made the £35m move to the Bundesliga giants. Jurgen Klopp's side had turned down two bids prior to accepting the fee that saw him end a six-year stint on Merseyside following a £34m move from Southampton.
His final season with the Reds came as they chased an unprecedented quadruple before claiming Carabao Cup and FA Cup success. Mane's most proficient season came when he helped end the 30-year wait to win the Premier League, contributing 22 goals.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner and Liverpool star were rivals last season as Ronaldo featured for Manchester United. It has been claimed that the 38-year-old wanted to sign for Bayern and upon Mane's move to Bavaria, he congratulated him on his switch.
"That says everything about the Bundesliga and underlines what I've already said: I think you underestimate the Bundesliga here," said Mane, speaking to BILDSport. "The recent performances in the Champions League prove that.
"I met Cristiano Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season after my move was completed. He congratulated me and told me: 'A great club. This is a great step for you.'"
It's been a stop-start debut campaign in Germany for the 30-year-old as he's been forced to deal with injury problems. A leg injury saw him miss the build-up to the World Cup and Senegal's subsequent campaign in Qatar, returning recently for Julian Nagelsman's side.
