What Congress may gain from Charanjit Singh Channi as party’s Punjab CM face

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday declared Charanjit Singh Channi as the party's chief ministerial face in Punjab, in hopes that the decision would garner some gains ahead of the February 20 assembly election.

In a highly charged atmosphere and in the presence of both Punjab CM Channi and state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, Rahul announced the results of televoting and internal discussions that the party held over who should be the CM face in the state.
