Tyrone clash with Mayo on Saturday evening in what is a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final at Croke Park.
On that occasion, the Red Hands claimed their fourth All-Ireland crown with a 2-14 to 0-15 win last September.
It is fair to say that Tyrone have failed to reach those heights so far in the 2022 season and they find themselves in dire need of a win to retain their Division One status for another campaign.
Indeed, last Sunday’s performance in defeat to Dublin was, arguably, their worst of the season at a time when they badly needed to deliver.
As Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher’s side are still above both Kildare and Dublin at the moment, Tyrone cannot be relegated this weekend.
Yet, Mayo would deliver a body blow to their chances of avoiding the drop with a win on Saturday evening.
James Moran’s side suffered a narrow one-point loss to Kerry in Tralee last Saturday night, but they’re still in contention for a place in the League final.
