After Rangers fluffed their lines, Dundee United take centre stage in European competition.
Jack Ross' face AK Alkmaar to Tannadice in the first leg of their Europa Conference League third qualifying round. It's the Tangerines first foray into Europe, having last done battle (quite literally, in the stands) with Dynamo Moscow in 2012. The Tayside outfit welcome the Dutch side in what will be another tough tie before travelling for the second leg next week.
Jamie McGrath has signed on a season-loan from Wigan and could be handed his debut tonight. A number of others made their competitive bows at the weekend as United hope to kick-off their European journey with a bang against their more fancied opponents. It wasn't the perfect start for Jack Ross' men in the cinch Scottish Premiership who shared the points with newly promoted Kilmarnock at the weekend. But there will hopefully be more for Tangerines to cheer about on Thursday as they look to book a playoff round date with either Gil Vicente or Riga.
