What channel is Atletico Madrid vs Man Utd? Kick-off time, TV and live stream details

After what felt like a never-ending run of 1-1 draws, Manchester United have seemingly found some form under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

The Red Devils arrive in the Spanish capital to do battle with Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their round of 16 Champions League knockout tie with two successive wins under their belt.

In actual fact, the run of 1-1 draws only lasted for three successive games, but given the position United find themselves in and their bid for a top-four finish - every single point counts.

Rangnick has only taken charge of one European tie while at United and that came in the form of a dead-rubber at home to Swiss minnows BSC Young Boys which ended 1-1.

The stakes will be far higher when they arrive at the home of Diego Simeone's side look some way off their usual pace so far this season.

Much like United, Atletico languish fifth in their league table and fearful of missing out on European club football's most elite competition entirely next term.

Here are all the details you need before the game.

What time is kick-off?

United will face off in arguably the most important game of the season so far at 8pm GMT on Wednesday February 23rd, 2022.

The clash will take place at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid in what will mark United's first game in the plush new stadium since it became the home of Atletico Madrid at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

This game will actually be the first time the sides have met in any kind of competitive fixture since a UEFA European Cup Winners Cup tie in 1991.

Team News

United are boosted by the fact they have very little injury concerns to note, while a number of key players could return to the starting line-up.

Raphael Varane could start from the off after he started the recent league trip to Elland Road on the bench before being introduced late on having suffered from a short illness in the days leading up to the game.

Eric Bailly has returned to training after he sustained a minor ankle problem, while Phil Jones is now eligible for Champions League games once again.

Though any nerves Rangnick may have can be slightly quelled by a clean bill of health for the squad, the same can not be said for Simeone's side.

All three of Antoine Griezmann, Koke or Yannick Carrasco were not involved in a recent training session before the game, with all of them side-lined with different injuries.

Matheus Cunha and Daniel Wass are both unavailable with knee injuries.

There are some doubts over whether Luis Suarez will participate, though not through any injury but instead he is likely to be dropped by Simeone.

Atletico come into the game desperate to build some momentum given so much of their season has been one step forward and two steps back.

Simeone's side have struggled to put a winning run together at all this campaign.
