Men’s giant slalom _ Erik Read, Calgary, placed 13th in a time of two minutes, 12.44 seconds for the two runs; and Trevor Philp, Calgary, was 24th (2:19.08).
BIATHLON
Women’s 10-kilometre pursuit _ Emma Lunder, Vernon, B.C., finished 54th overall in 42:19.3 while incurring seven penalties.
Men’s 12.5-kilometre pursuit _ Scott Gow, Calgary, placed 20th overall (43:18.7 with four penalties); Jules Burnotte, Sherbrooke, Que., was 28th (43:48.2, five); Adam Runnalls, Calgary, 30th (43:59.9, five); and Christian Gow, Calgary, 35th (44:10.5, five).
BOBSLEIGH
Women’s monobob _ Christine de Bruin of Stony Plain, Alta., ranks second following the opening two runs with a combined time of 2:10.14 _ trailing former Canadian teammate Kaillie Humphries who now competes for the U.S., by 1.04 seconds; Cynthia Appiah, Toronto, is in the 10th position (2:11.28).
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Men’s 4x10 kilometre relay _ Canada (Graham Ritchie, Parry Sound, Ont.; Antoine Cyr, Gatineau, Que.; Olivier Léveillé, Sherbrooke, Que.; and Rémi Drolet, Rossland, B.C.) finished 11th (2:04:01.1)
CURLING
Women _ Canada fell to 1-3 in the tournament as Switzerland scored five unanswered points over the final three ends for an 8-4 win.
Men _ Canada (3-2) stole four in the second end and another in the fifth to help defeat the United States, 10-5.
HOCKEY
Men _ Kent Johnson of Port Moody, B.C. (University of Michigan), and Eric O’Dell, Ottawa (Moscow, KHL), had a goal and an assist each and Matt Tomkins stopped all 26 shots he faced each as Canada (2-1) wrapped up the preliminary round with a 5-0 win over China. The two teams will meet again in the elimination round.
SPEED SKATING (LONG TRACK)
Women’s 500 _ Marsha Hudey of White City, Sask. (38.79) and Brooklyn McDougall, Calgary (38.84), finished 21st and 22nd; and Heather McLean, Winnipeg was 27th (39.31).
Men’s team pursuit _ Canada (Jordan Belchos, Toronto; Ted-Jan Bloemen, Calgary; and Connor Howe, Canmore, Alta.) posted the fifth-fastest time in the quarter-finals (3:40.17) and will race South Korea in the C-final to determine fifth place.
SPEED SKATING (SHORT TRACK)
Women’s 3,000 relay _ Canada (Courtney Lee Sarault, Moncton, N.B.; Florence Brunelle, Trois-Rivières, Que.; Kim Boutin, Sherbrooke, Que.; and Alyson Charles, Montreal) finished fourth in the final (4:04.329) _ 0.466 seconds behind the bronze medallists from China.
Men’s 500 _ Steven Dubois, Terrebonne, Que., won the bronze medal (40.669) _ his second medal of these Games (1,500, silver); Jordan Pierre-Gilles, Sherbrooke, Que., did not advance after being unable to finish in his quarter-final race.
