What Boris will do next - either House of Lords or I'm A Celebrity

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is a 12/1 shot to sign up for the I’m A Celebrity jungle later this year, according to the latest odds from OLBG. Johnson’s father Stanley has already become a big hit on the hit TV show and there is support for the PM to swap the turmoil in Westminster for the challenges of the Bushtucker Trials in the autumn.

Throughout his political career, Johnson has been a character and his massive profile will ensure he would be a target for producers on all the big reality programmes knowing he would be a marquee signing for their line-ups. Linking up with Ant and Dec down under is the most likely, with Strictly a 16/1 shot and the Masked Singer an outsider at 22/1.

But one thing that does seem more likely is taking up a slot as guest host of the political comedy panel show Have I Got News For You - a programme he has appeared on several times in the past. He is 6/1 to put himself up for a ribbing from Ian Hislop, Paul Merton and Co.

Boris might feel he is not done with politics just yet, and one area he has performed well on is on Ukraine, where he has already visited and formed a strong relationship with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is 8/1 he links up with Zelenskyy as a special envoy to Ukraine working in international politics.

A place in the House of Lords is also on the horizon, with a peerage in the New Year Honours a 10/1 shot. Johnson has a history of lavish spending on wallpaper and garden toys for his kids, so is sure to need a vehicle to make more money when he leaves Downing Street. And OLBG say he is just 1/10 to sign up to a tell-all book deal by the end of the year.

An OLBG spokesperson said: “Boris Johnson has built his entire career on being a maverick, messing around in public and building up a celebrity profile. He is just the kind of big-name target the producers of all the reality TV shows would beat the door down to sign up, a cast-iron guarantee of huge ratings.

“The links with the Johnson family and I’m A Celebrity producers is already established and they will have the easiest time getting in his ear if he does become unemployed in the coming weeks. But we know he sees himself as a grand statesman no matter how his time as Prime Minister is viewed by others, and the chance to help Ukraine and Zelenskyy is one that would appeal to his ego.

“Yet the easiest way to make big money to fund his luxury lifestyle is probably a book deal, and his character suggests he would be willing to dish the dirt on former colleagues - especially Dominic Cummings.”

Boris Johnson odds from the Online Betting Guide OLBG:

To appear in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here - 12/1

To appear on The Masked Singer - 22/1

To appear in Strictly Come Dancing - 16/1

To take up special role as Ukraine envoy - 8/1

To take a seat in House of Lords - 10/1

To sign a tell-all book deal - 1/10
