Benfica supporters have taken to social media to flood Darwin Nunez with messages of thanks and support following the striker's move to Liverpool.
After swift negotiations, the Reds managed to wrap up a deal with Benfica for the Uruguay international, paying a set fee of £64.1million (€75m) with a possible £21.3m (€25m) in add-ons depending on individual success, ranging from reaching appearance landmarks, scoring goals to winning the Champions League.
The striker had spent two years at the Portuguese giants after signing from Spanish side UD Almeria in September 2020, and it's fair to say his impressive exploits in front of goal had made him an instant hit with the Eagles' fan base, proven by their sadness in seeing Nunez depart to Merseyside.
