Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has previously admitted that he has "watched" Newcastle United amid reports of a rejected offer for the Frenchman.
The Magpies are currently aiming to add to their squad during the January transfer window as they aim to stave off the threat of relegation following their £300million takeover by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
So far, new boss Eddie Howe has welcomed Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and Burnley striker Chris Wood in the January transfer window.
Their winter shopping is not expected to end there though, and the latest name apparently under consideration is Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and would be available on a free transfer, with Newcastle thought to be interested in the former Lyon man’s services.
It is reported by TransferMarketWeb that the North East club have made an €8million (£6.7million) per-year contract offer to Lacazette until 2025 - a deal that would be worth at least £20million. That offer has been rejected though according to the same reports, with the striker having no intention of risking relegation to the Championship.
Despite that, the 30-year-old has been complimentary of the Magpies in the past.
Speaking after a 2-0 win for the Gunners back in April 2019 - a game in which he scored - Lacazette admitted to being an avid viewer of Newcastle matches, whilst also hinting at how hard it is to play against them.
Speaking to the Gunners’ official website, he said: "We saw many videos of Newcastle United and I've watched them in the Premier League before.
"It's always like this against Newcastle, like it is with all the teams in the Premier League."
Of course, it remains to be seen where Lacazette's future lies amid his expiring deal and decision to reject the advances of Newcastle.
It was previously reported that Mikel Arteta had approved an extension to his current contract at the Emirates Stadium but as of now, no announcement is thought to be forthcoming.
