What Arsenal players did in game delay as Mikel Arteta angers fans: Moments missed vs Leeds

Arsenal remain top of the league after scraping to a 1-0 victory over Leeds United despite a dreadful display. The game got off to a bizarre start as a power cut which took out the VAR TV feed and goal line technology saw it delayed by roughly 40 minutes.

When things got back underway, Leeds caused the Gunners a few issues with Luis Sinisterra going close on a couple of occasions, but it was Arsenal who took the lead when Bukayo Saka finished superbly from a tight angle after a bizarre back-pass from Rodrigo had been intercepted. Leeds came back out reinvigorated though and half time substitute Patrick Bamford made a huge impact. William Saliba then gave away a penalty for a poor handball, but got out of jail when Bamford put it wide.

A dramatic game continued with Leeds well on top and just when it seemed Arsenal had held out, Leeds were awarded a second penalty and Gabriel a red card for kicking out at Bamford in the box. VAR intervened however, and Arsenal got away with it to hold on and win despite an awful display. Here football.london takes a look back at some of the moments you may have missed from the game.

Arsenal keep busy in the delay

This game got off to a bizarre start as it was halted for around 40 minutes by a power cut. The outage meant that the TV feed for VAR was unavailable and therefore the game had to wait.

This presented all manner of problems for the Arsenal players who had just got warm after the delay came 90 seconds into the match. To prevent the risk of injury, they began playing balls around before heading back into the tunnel. They were then sent back out 10 minutes before the game resumed to do more warm ups and passing drills.

Arteta angers Leeds fans

Mikel Arteta's habits on the touchline have certainly been a topic of conversation for some this season. Richard Keys has already taken against the Arsenal manager's tendency to stroll from outside his technical area and it seems that the Leeds fans now have too.

As the hosts earned a throw in, Rasmus Kristensen found his path blocked by Arteta as he prepared to take. This prompted a furious response from the Elland Road faithful who began demanding that referee Chris Kavanaugh book the Spaniard. It was all light-hearted on the pitch though, as Arteta instantly apologised and patted Kristensen on the back.

Xhaka fumes with Tomiyasu

It was not the best of games for Takehiro Tomiyasu as he struggled regularly with Leeds' intense high pressing. The Japan international was also pretty negative in possession, which angered his teammates.

Granit Xhaka in particular got frustrated during one first half instance where Tomiyasu was too keen to pass back to Gabriel instead of going forward. The Swiss midfielder could be seen jumping around in frustration.
