Arsenal players and staff paid tribute to Pablo Mari after the Gunners loanee was one of six victims stabbed in an attack in Milan earlier this week.
The Gunners defender was taken to hospital with injuries to his back that were not life-threatening, before undergoing surgery to repair two muscles that were damaged. Mari spoke out following the attack admitting 'luck was on his side', with the Spaniard saying: "Today I had luck because I saw a person die in front of me."
Speaking after the Gunners 2-0 defeat against PSV Eindhoven, Mikel Arteta stated: "I just found out. I know Edu has been in touch with his relatives. He's in hospital but he seems to be ok." The club released a statement which said: "We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari."

Before the clash against Nottingham Forest this afternoon, Arsenal players and staff gathered on the pitch holding up a jersey with Mari's name and number as a tribute to the Spaniard. The Gunners loanee is set to miss two months of action as he continues his recovery from the attack and was released from hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Monza provided a positive update on Mari's condition in a statement released on the club's website. The statement read: "Pablo Marí was discharged from the hospital this morning, returned home and now begins a period of absolute rest.
"AC Monza sincerely thanks Professor Osvaldo Chiara and all the professionals of the Trauma Center of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan. Pablo, we are waiting for you!"
Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for Arsenal inside five minutes against Forest and paid his own personal tribute to Mari by holding up the Spaniard's Gunners jersey once again which resulted in a huge round of applause from supporters.
It is clear that his parent club and all supporters are behind him as he continues to recover from the horrible attack which resulted in one person losing their life.
