Stadium changes
There has recently been plenty of talk about the deterioration of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. In the aftermath of the European Super League, the club came under scrutiny for the lack of attention paid to their home ground, but the Gunners CEO Vinai Venkatseham did confirm their intention to address this earlier this year.
It seems that work has already begun over the summer. The club launched a new pre-match video on their brand new and improved big screens, while the large Arsenal badge on the outside of the stadium has been re-coloured. More work will be done to fix the stadium roof and change the wrap around the outside when the Premier League breaks for the World Cup in September, but the Emirates is already looking smarter for the new additions.
Martinelli sends message to Saliba
The first drinks break of a roasting afternoon at the Emirates was a scene of pure jubilation for the Arsenal fans as it came immediately after Gabriel Jesus' stunning opener. While supporters were celebrating, though, the players on the pitch were clearly deep in discussion.
One of these was Gabriel Martinelli, who could be seen instructing William Saliba to look for a switch from the right side of defence over to his left-wing position at every possible opportunity. Wesley Fofana was monitoring that area of defence and had picked up an early booking, and it was clear that Arsenal were keen to target him. Martinelli was not the only one to spot this, as Granit Xhaka and Jesus could be seen telling Saliba were to play it too.
Arsenal fans new chant for Jesus
With the influx of new players all playing very well at the minute, there are plenty of new songs being heard among the Arsenal fan base at the minute. Last week it was the Oleksandr Zinchenko chant to the tune of Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' that had Gooners bouncing on their way home, and this week his fellow ex-Manchester City a bit of love too.
"Na-na-na, Jesus" to the tune of the Beatles' 'Hey Jude' rang around the Emirates Stadium after the Brazilian's second goal as Arsenal fans celebrated their new signing's first Premier League strikes. If this display is anything to go by, we could be hearing that quite a lot this season.
Arsenal fans show appreciation for Youri Tielemans
It was not the best day at the office for Youri Tielemans, who hardly influenced the game before being taken off around the hour mark. The Belgian does appear to have won over some fans at the Emirates despite the display, though.
As he was subbed off initially, a chorus of boos echoed around the stadium, but these quickly gave way to applauds and eventually a standing ovation. The club's Ashburton Army group in the Clock End then began serenading the 25-year-old who football.london understands Arsenal are interested in signing.
