Voters in West Lancashire have had their say in the 2022 local elections.
Twenty council seats were up for election in 19 of 25 West Lancashire wards including Ashurst, Aughton and Downholland, Aughton Park, Burscough East, Burscough West, Derby, Hesketh-With-Becconsall, Knowsley, Moorside, Newburgh, North Meols, Parbold, Scarisbrick, Scott, Skelmersdale South, Tanhouse, Tarleton, Up Holland and Wrightington.
Last year, Labour lost overall control and the results of this vote will again have a significant impact on the running of the local authority. A new leader has been elected, as former leader Councillor llr Ian Moran did not stand for re-election.
Local elections took place for more than 200 local authorities across the UK, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England. In Greater Manchester seats were available in the region's 10 councils.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 5, with the West Lancashire count expected to take place on Friday during the day.
