British music icon Kate Bush has revealed to BBC Radio 4 that she’s ready to record a new album, in what would be her first studio release since 2011.
Speaking with the Today programme’s Emma Barnett, the 66-year-old said she was “very keen” to start working on new material.
Bush said: “I’ve got lots of ideas. I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space. It’s been a long time.”
The singer, who appeared on the show to promote her new charity short film, Little Shrew, added that while she was ready for new music, she’s “not there yet” when it comes to performing live again.
Widely regarded as a national treasure, Bush became the first solo British female artist to top the UK Albums Chart in 1980. She has won legions of fans for her eclectic musical style and has remained an elusive figure in music throughout the decades.
In 2022, she received a resurgence in her music - and an introduction to Gen Z - when her signature track Running Up That Hill appeared in the award-winning Netflix series Stranger Things.
With new music on the cards, let’s take a look at the last time Bush released music and performed, and round up her most popular songs in the UK.
