Manchester United will be getting a "very good character" in Martin Dubravka, if Alan Shearer's words about the goalkeeper are anything to go by.
United are expected to have a busy last few days of the August transfer window as Ajax winger Antony arrived at Carrington on Monday to push through the last stages of his transfer to the Old Trafford outfit. Erik ten Hag is also expected to add Newcastle's Dubravka to his squad as competition for David de Gea.
The Reds loaned second choice 'keeper Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest at the start of pre-season and have since been searching for a player to challenge their current number one. Speaking to Sky Sports in 2019, Newcastle legend Shearer praised Dubravka, saying: "I think he’s been a fantastic buy, when you look at the fees that have been paid for some players. His handling, for the most part, has been superb.
"If he can get over the mistakes that have happened in the last few games then great but in the main I think he’s been a superb buy. He seems to be a very good character, not afraid to make a couple of mistakes - as all good players do. He’ll learn from those mistakes."
