Here we take a look at the £1,000,000 homes listed for sale in both Merseyside and London, to see what this amount can buy you in the north compared to the south.
Merseyside
Arrowe Road, Greasby, Wirral
On the market for just shy of £1m, at £925,000, this five bedroom detached house sits on a plot of two acres. Built in 1815, the farmhouse has been extended over the years and recently been renovated to blend modern luxuries with period touches.
Highlights of the home include two driveways with enough space for multiple cars, a garage and outbuildings that were previously used as horse paddocks. Its location also means it's within walking distance of shops, restaurants and transport, despite being rural enough to enjoy the peace of the countryside.
Menlove Avenue, Calderstones, Liverpool
Those who had a budget of £1m could have bought a house on the same road as John Lennon's childhood home. This property on Menlove Avenue, was listed for £1,150,000, and is within walking distance of local beauty spots including Calderstones Park and Sefton Park. Popular food and drink hotspots such as Allerton Road and Lark Lane are also close by.
As well as being a stone's throw away from tourist locations including Strawberry Field, the house boasts many luxurious features. Inside it has a chandelier and glass balcony which sets the tone for the property overall.
It benefits from 'carefully thought out architecture' throughout. On the ground floor there are numerous family rooms and the first of five bedrooms.
St Michaels Road, Crosby
A hefty pay package could get you a home that comes with it's own spa-like facilities in Crosby. The detached four bedroom house has many ‘luxuries’ throughout, including an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi area, sauna and steam room.
Split over three floors, the house even has a gym, office space and spare rooms. With an electric gated entrance and tall mature trees surrounding the property, the house also provides plenty of privacy on St Michael's Road.
It's on the market for close to the one million mark, at £925,000. But in the current climate, many wouldn't be surprised if the property is able to make it to the £1m if it appeals to the right buyer.
Park West, Heswall, Wirral
This home, which is currently under offer, comes with the added benefit of saving you money on your bills. The four bedroom detached house, listed for £1m on Park West, Heswall, is described as a specially designed 'eco-home.'
Architecturally designed by Joel Antony Roderick and James Kearns of 16A architecture, the home has been fitted with solar panels and a heating system that is said to ‘provide all of the heating and hot water at 300% efficiency.’ The listing suggests that the Air Source Heat Pump can save hundreds of pounds a quarter, leading to energy savings of more than £1,000 per year.
Added to the savings of the solar panels, the estate agents estimate that house owners can get savings of around £2,803 each year. It has also been noted that most of the new fittings come with years left on their warranties.
London
Daubeney Road, Hackney
This three-bedroom house is on the market for £1m in Hackney. The traditional-style terraced home is made up of a through-lounge, dining room, kitchen, utility room, downstairs shower room, three double bedrooms and family bathroom.
The property also benefits from a loft room and small courtyard area to the rear. Estate agents describe it as "an ideal family home".
Victoria Drive, Wimbledon
Up for sale in Wimbledon is this semi-detached home, which doesn't quite look like it should be worth a million pounds. Described as being within good access to Wimbledon Tennis, the house has a kitchen, dining room, two open-plan studio areas, a study, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Outside the property has a wide front garden and to the rear is a further private garden with shed. The property also benefits from a garage which is attached to the house.
Estate agents say the home has an 'historic provenance' and would suit a growing or extended family with space for a small business or design studio.
Abbotshall Avenue, Enfield
Quite the contrast to the previous house is this four-bed detached home in Enfield. Designed with unique 1930's modernist-style architecture, the unique home features a dining room with doors leading to a patio area, a bespoke kitchen, a two reception rooms on the ground floor.
Upstairs are four bedrooms and one family bathroom. There is the additional benefit of access to a roof terrace, offering amazing views over the London skyline. The rear garden also offers a spacious patio area, large grass area and decking.
