Have you ever wondered how you get your breakfast so quickly in a Wetherspoons pub? How do they grill that bacon so fast and what's the key to quick eggs?
All is revealed as a staff member at the chain speaks to Channel 5. And the main ingredients in serving a prompt breakfast appear to be staff training and the humble microwave.
As reported on North Wales Live, the staff member explains: “The bacon actually comes pre-cooked and is heated on a grill. Baked beans obviously come in tins so it’s all just warmed through in the microwaves." Meanwhile, sausages and other products are kept somewhere called a "hot hold" to ensure they are ready to be plated up for punters immediately.
Other breakfast items arrive at the pubs frozen and are cooked in under four minutes. "Wetherspoons use what they refer to as spec cards – how to assemble it step by step from the easiest way to do it until the end result,” says the Wetherspoons employee.
They add: "They will train all of their kitchen staff in the exact same way. All the Wetherspoons within that area will compete against each other as to who is the fastest delivery time that week."
So what about carpets and music? The documentary reveals more secrets, such as Brexiteer boss Tim Martin deciding against playing tunes after reading an article by George Orwell which claimed that a perfect pub would be free from any background music.
