Wetherspoons is the go to for those after a cheap bite to eat and a pint, but customers of the pub chain have noticed a recent change to the menu that has left them baffled. One foodie has shared her confusion over changes to prices in a video that has since gone viral.
In a TikTok that has over 158k views, user @brodies_bites_ was left puzzled after she and her friends popped into the pub for a bite to eat.

“Can someone please explain what on Earth has happened to Wetherspoons prices?
“We went to spoons on the way home from Glasgow the other night just to grab something to eat because we had been drinking and realised we hadn’t actually eaten yet,” she said.
The self-proclaimed ‘food obsessed’ vlogger noted that while the burgers they got were nice but the onion rings were “absolutely cremated” - that the quality of the food was not the talking point for this video.
The foodie noted that the prices had gone up in the menu, and said normally in the UK, places round up prices for a more equal number but this was not the case in the pub chain.
“The point of this video is because for the first time in ages we’ve been to spoons and normally it’s like £1.29 for coleslaw, £10.59 for a burger and a drink - what the hell is this?
“£4.03 for soup, £5.54 for nachos - like what? £5.27 for a panini and a drink - what is actually going on?
“It continues throughout the whole menu, such bizarre pricing and even the side dishes, it’s 81p for a side of chilli and £4.03 for chips, like I just don’t understand it.”
The reason why the “bizarre” pricing doesn’t round up to the nearest 5p, is because of a recent price hike.
The business announced earlier this month it would be increasing prices across its menu by 7.5% making it the second time in less than a year that prices have risen.
Some pints you can now expect to pay more for in the popular chain include Carlsberg which is up from £2.39 to £2.57, Stella from £3.35 to £3.60 and Leffe from £3.85 to £4.14.
The company recently revealed it will two new pubs over the six months, while selling or closing 11, leaving it with a total of 843 branches across the UK and Ireland.
