Wetherspoon shares update on latest closure as 26 remain at risk - see full list

Wetherspoon has shared an update on the closures of some of its pubs as it confirms the next site set to shut for good.

The latest branch set to shut its doors for good is The Nightjar in Ferndown.

A spokesperson for the pub chain said that they had decided to not renew the lease and the venue will be handed back to the landlord.

The Nightjar is set to close in September however a final date for the closure has yet to be confirmed.

Wetherspoon announced last year that it was planning on closing 32 of its sites, before announcing that there would be further closures on top of that.

In a trading update in May, the popular pub chain noted that the sites which had closed were "smaller and older".

The chain also noted that there were also usually multiple Wetherspoons in the area - meaning locals were not going to lose the popular boozer altogether.

Some of the sales of the pubs are being managed by the commercial retail estate firm CBRE Group and Savills.

According to the CBRE Group and Savills website, there are currently 15 Wetherspoon pubs which are classed as being "under offer" - this means that a buyer has presented an offer that is being considered by the seller.

Although even though an offer has been made, it doesn't necessarily mean the deal is definitely going through.

In good news for fans, all sites are to remain trading as Wetherspoon until a sale has been officially completed, and will likely continue for a bit of time afterwards until the plan for the site is announced by Wetherspoons.

These sites include:

  1. Asparagus - Battersea

  2. General Sir Redvers Buller - Crediton

  3. Millers Well - East Ham

  4. The Bankers Draft - Eltham

  5. Hudson Bay - Forest Gate

  6. Capitol - Forest Hill

  7. The Saltoun Inn - Fraserburgh

  8. The Percy Shaw - Halifax

  9. Coronet - Holloway

  10. The Alfred Herring - Palmers Green
  11. The Cross Keys - Peebles
  12. Foxley Hatch - Purley

  13. The Butlers Bell - Stafford
  14. The Widow Frost - Mansfield
  15. Wrong ‘Un - Bexleyheath

A further 11 pubs are currently "available" which means they are up for sale so could be saved if a buyer is found.

These include:

  1. Christopher Creeke - Bournemouth

  2. Thomas Leaper - Derby

  3. Lord Arthur Lee - Fareham
  4. Plough & Harrow - Hammersmith

  5. Jolly Sailor - Hanham
  6. Resolution - Middlesbrough
  7. The Rising Sun - Redditch
  8. World's Inn - Romford

  9. Sennockian - Sevenoaks
  10. Former Tusk Nightclub & Waverly Tea Rooms - Watford
  11. Columbia Press (Lloyds No. 1) - Watford
