Punters at Wetherspoon's 844 UK pubs will be able to enjoy an extra hour drinking on Sunday, May 7, to celebrate the King's Coronation. It comes after the Home Secretary extended licensing hours from the normal 11pm to 1am, to allow people to “enjoy and extra pint or two”.
The exact time Wetherspoon pubs will close will vary by location, but it will be an hour later than their usual closing time. The extra hour of celebration will come the day after Charles is officially crowned King on Saturday, May 5.
Other chains, like Fullers and Green King, will also be extending the opening hours of some of their pubs, the Express reports. It follows a similar lengthening of licensing hours for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last June.

A Government source said: “Raising a glass will be a fitting tribute to the new King.” But for those who wish to celebrate in a different way, there will be plenty of other ways to join in the festivities.
Monday, May 8, will be a Bank Holiday to mark the occasion, with communities encouraged to hold street parties at lunchtime on Sunday, as part of the Big Lunch initiative. Buckingham Palace said thousands of events are planning in streets, gardens and parks across the nation.
“Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort hope the Coronation Weekend will provide an opportunity to spend time and celebrate with friends, families, and communities across the United Kingdom, the Realms, and the Commonwealth,” a statement read.
Saturday will see the King and Queen travel to Westminster Abbey in the Gold State Coach as part of what is known as The King's Procession. The pair will then travel back in the Coronation Procession, which is expected to be grander and at a slower pace. The Royal Family will then appear on the Palace's balcony. On Sunday evening, a Coronation Concert will take place at Windsor Castle.
