Wetherspoon say they are aware of an incident which appears to show their door staff fighting with people in Nottingham city centre. The alleged assault took place on Saturday, May 21 outside Lloyds No1 Bar in Carlton Street, Nottingham, just after 10pm.
The video appears to show door staff fighting outside the entrance of the pub, with one woman appearing to be knocked to the ground. The company, which runs pubs across Nottinghamshire and the rest of the UK, says it is assisting police with their enquiries into what happened and that those involved have been "removed" of their duties at the pub. They will not be allowed to work at Wetherspoon pubs in the future.
A spokesman for Wetherspoon said: “Wetherspoon is aware of an incident which took place on the night of Saturday 21st May. We are assisting the police with their enquiries into allegations of assault made against two door supervisors.

"Wetherspoon does not tolerate any violence on its premises. The individuals have been removed from their duties at Lloyds No 1 and will not be allowed to work at any of our premises in the future.”
An eyewitness to the incident said: "Basically I got off the tram, saw the bouncers throwing a girl and a man out very aggressively and it all escalated from there." They said shortly after the video was taken, police arrived at the scene.
Police say they are treating the incident very seriously - they are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch with them. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “We are investigating after reports of two separate assaults in Carlton Street, Nottingham, shortly before 10.45pm on Saturday night, May 21 2022.
“Police were quickly deployed to the area and an investigation to establish the circumstances is ongoing. We are treating these reports very seriously and, as part of our enquiries, we are urging anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to please get in touch with us by calling 101, quoting incident 840 of 21 May 2022.”
