Pub chain Wetherspoon has confirmed it has installed cameras in the toilets of one of its pubs - leaving one customer 'outraged'. The chain says CCTV has been fitted in men's and women's toilets at the Van Dyck in Bristol.
But it says cameras do not cover the cubicles or urinals and are designed to promote customer and staff safety. One customer said: "Myself and a number of other customers were shocked and outraged to find CCTV cameras above the urinals in the gents' toilets. The camera is above one end of the urinals, which everyone I spoke to feels is a gross invasion of privacy."
A Wetherspoon spokesman said: ”CCTV is in place in both the men's and ladies' toilets at the Van Dyck, Bristol. The cameras do not cover the cubicles.
