Westsound Cash for Kids Easter egg appeal begins in Dumfries and Galloway

The Westsound Cash For Kids Easter egg appeal is under way and is calling for support across the region.

More than 1,600 Easter eggs were donated last year and, along with Cash For Kids grants, helped hundreds of underprivileged children and families, community groups, schools and individuals across Dumfries and Galloway.

A number of businesses in the region have signed up to support the campaign as collection points where chocolate eggs can be dropped off.

They include: Morrisons, Armstrong Group (Molplant), James Hallam Insurance and Queen of the South in Dumfries. Also, Lochmaben Community Centre, Robinsons in Lockerbie, SP Energy Networks in Dumfries and Stranraer and James Smith Fencing in Kirkcudbright.

Donations can be handed in until Sunday, March 27.

Trainees from SP Energy Networks have volunteered to help collect the donations and then distribute them out across the region.

Dumfries-based Kenny Bowie of SP Energy Networks and a regional ambassador for Cash for Kids helped launch the appeal with Cash For Kids charity manager, Andrew Irving, and Myra Smith, Morrisons community champion, at the Dumfries store on Thursday.

He said: “It is great to see so many local businesses working together to benefit so many children across the region.”
