Weston McKennie admits Premier League is 'everything he hoped' after Leeds United loan move

Weston McKennie has admitted that the Premier League is 'everything he'd hoped' after he made his first Leeds United league start against Manchester United last night.

The 24-year-old started alongside compatriot Tyler Adams and helped his side take a point away from Old Trafford thanks to goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville.

Having joined on loan from Juventus late in the January transfer window, the American has a clause in his deal that says he could become a permanent Whites player next season if certain objectives are met.

Those are believed to be him making a certain amount of appearances while also keeping the club in the Premier League, something results like last night's will help him achieve.

When asked if he was okay after limping into the press corner, McKennie joked that he was completely fine before admitting that it was simply the result of a hard tackle - something he loves about the English top-flight.

"I feel all fresh and raring to go... no I'm joking," McKennie told Stadium Astro. "This is the Premier League, it's everything that I wanted. The banter, the hard tackles, the talking back with other players and the arguments with the refs.

"I think it's something that attracts me to it, draws me to it and obviously after every game, players walk away with battle scars and unfortunately I walked away with one today but it was a good experience."
