Western Australian police force looking to recruit Gardaí to head down under

The Western Australian Police Force has launched an international campaign targeting officers from Ireland to come and join their force.

It comes as part of a new initiative between the Western Australia government and the federal government, which allows the state to recruit police officers from other countries alongside fellow Australian states.

Officers from both Ireland and the UK can be granted entry into Western Australia throughout the next five years as part of the Employer Nominated Scheme visa,

As Buzz.ie report, if members of the Gardai were to leave their jobs in Ireland to take up a role in Australia, they would be looking at a pay package of $84,003 (€57,566) with five years of work.

In Ireland, qualified Gardai are paid €45,375 per annum.

"Policing styles in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand are quite compatible with ours, and transition programs have previously worked in our favour,” WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said in a statement.

"My message to officers working in those countries is simple. We want skilled, experienced constables to work on the frontline to help us cover the biggest policing jurisdiction in the world.

"If you have at least three years experience in your Police Force and you are under 55 years of age, we want to hear from you."
